Q: How many days do I have to volunteer and for how many hours?
A: We ask that you work 4 days over the course of the championship. This is divided into approximately four or five hour shifts or about 20 hours.
Q: Can my children volunteer? Is there an age requirement?
A: Yes, children ages 13 years old to 17 years old can be a junior volunteer. Junior volunteers may work as Standard Bearers and with Program Sales. Junior volunteer applications will be available in March 2012.
Q: What does the volunteer fee cover?
A: The fee covers the uniform (two shirts, one windbreaker, a hat/visor), preferred parking, credential for the week and meals during shifts. In addition you will have a one-time discount in the Merchandise Pavilion. The fee has not been confirmed yet, but will be comparable to past U.S. Senior Opens.
Q: How do I know my assignment?
A: Once you've completed your online registration and your payment has been processed, you will receive an email confirming your selection as a volunteer and assigning you to a committee. We will do our best to assign everyone to their first choice.
Q: If I am no longer able to volunteer, can I receive a refund?
A: Yes, you will be issued a refund if you cancel before April 1, 2013. Please contact the Championship Office at (402) 991-1424 to request a refund.
Q: Can I watch golf when I am not working?
A: Yes, your credential is valid for the entire week and we encourage you to do so. On days that you are working as a volunteer, before or after your shift, you are welcome to watch golf as a spectator. On days that you are not working as a volunteer, please do not wear your uniform.
Q: Can I be scheduled (shift assignments) at the same time as my spouse, friend, etc.?
A: We will make every effort to accommodate your scheduling requests. Make sure to list your request on your Registration Form, and select similar availability to the person you wish to work with when availability selection opens in January 2013.
Q: How do I know my schedule? And when will I receive my schedule?
A: After you select your availability online in January 2013, your schedule will be posted by your committee chair to your volunteer profile in March. Any changes or issues with your schedule will be made through the committee chair.
Q: When will the uniforms be shipped?
A: Uniforms will be shipped to your address on file with the championship in spring 2013.
